Ingushetia: hotline on power agents receives 5-6 calls per hour

On December 10-11, the telephone hotline opened in Ingushetia for people to complain against power agents' actions received 5-6 calls every hour, as human rights activist and lawyer Musa Pliev, appointed as adviser to President of Ingushetia for coordinating power agencies, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. Mr Pliev has appointed personal meetings on December 12 to three complaining citizens.

"This happens despite the fact that media did not broadly advertise the hotline number," Musa Pliev has noted and added that although the media said it has been specified that the hotline was started for complaints against wrongful actions of power agencies - militia, prosecutor's office, etc., people are calling on all other issues: they complain of violations of their rights in the area of housing legislation, of non-payment of pensions, allowances, etc. However, many complaints arrive against actions or inactions of militia and prosecutor's office, where they fail to react to citizens' complaints.

"In future, we need a special division or department to deal with this hotline," Musa Pliev has stated. According to his story, "there are pretty plenty complaints, and many of them are duly motivated."

The hotline will go on in its experimental mode for one more day, December 12. On Monday, December 15, Mr Pliev will present a report on hotline's efficiency and his further proposals to President Evkurov. "Well, we should have assumed its high efficiency. In the last three years, according to President's administration, ministries and agencies had no personal reception of citizens," Musa Pliev has added.
