In Ingushetia, Alikhan Kalimatov memorial plate installed
Ingushetia has commemorated FSB Lieutenant Colonel Alikhan Kalimatov, who perished while performing his duties. In his memory, School No. 4 in Ordzhonikidzevskaya village, Sunzha District of the republic, where he was a pupil, has installed a memorial board.
The ceremony was attended by Ingush President Yunus-Bek Evkurov, Deputies of the National Assembly, representatives of the public, Colonel's schoolmates, relatives and friends.
We remind you that last summer a special group headed by Lieutenant Colonel Alikhan Kalimatov from the FSB Central Office was formed to investigate numerous disappearances of Ingushes in North Ossetia. The members of the group have established that in the period from summer 2005 to July 2007, 21 persons had been kidnapped in the territory of North Ossetia, namely, 19 Ingushes and 2 Chechens.
On September 17, 2007, Mr Kalimatov was shot dead by unidentified persons. Under one of the versions the FSB officer stood in the way of one of criminal groups, which was kidnapping people. Late in 2007, President of the Russian Federation decreed to award Alikhan Kalimatov with the title of the Hero of the Russian Federation posthumously.
