Death of recruit investigated in Stavropol Territory

The Military Investigatory Department for the Circassian Garrison has initiated a criminal case on the fact of the death of Anton Shalamov, a soldier at mandatory service in the military unit of the city of Nevinnomyssk (Stavropol Territory), who was recruited from the Saratov Region.

The criminal case was opened on the fact of non-manual relation (hazing). Another soldier at mandatory service is a suspect in the case.

Making comments on the news items, which appeared in mass media that when the body of soldier Shalamov underwent a repeated post-mortem examination in the presence of his relatives, it had no kidneys, spleen and heart, the spokesman of the Military Investigatory Department has noted that "there's no crime in it." "The organs are at the forensic medical examination, for the experts to find the reason of death," the spokesman has explained to the "Interfax".

On November 17, the mother and sisters of the casualty held a press conference and disclosed the details of the case, the "Novaya Gazeta" writes.

Anton Shalamov was recruited last December. According to his mother, Natalia Petrovna, nobody in their small town could believe that the boy with that weak health would be called in. At the age of 16, the teenager had a heavy trauma - multiple, including open, fractures of both arms and the collar bone, damage of the knee joint and a craniocerebral trauma.

According to his mother, for a long time she could not know, to what military unit his son was taken. The military commissariat answered that he "had disappeared and we'll announce him into search." Finally, Anton himself wrote from Volgograd; it turned out that he was sent to railway troops.

Unexpectedly, the letter exchange stopped. Three months later, Anton made a call from Krasnodar. It turned out that he had been transferred to another unit, he was not given any envelopes for letters, and he was being convinced to sign a contract. Otherwise, they threatened to deprive him of the leave. On October 29, the young man telephoned to his sister Ekaterina and said that he was at the medical unit and that "his fingers and ribs were broken"; he asked the relatives to take him home as soon as possible. Judging by the documents, on the following day, October 30, Shalamov went on duty. On October 31, the district military commissariat informed the relatives that the soldier had died.

The officer who accompanied the coffin told the family that the young man hang up himself at his own will, when he was on duty at the canteen.

The newspaper was told at the Military Investigatory Department of the Circassian Garrison that a suspect was established - a soldier of the same unit. He is not detained yet. Inspectors interrogate him and eyewitnesses. This sort of crime assumes up to ten years of imprisonment.
