Athlete from North Ossetia wins Wu-Shu World Championship

Mark Burnatsev, a resident of the capital of North Ossetia, was awarded with this year's title of World Champion in traditional Wu-Shu. He was recognized as the winner at the competitions held in the Chinese city of Chiyan.

He was the winner in the Tao-Shu category (exercises with arms), and in the Quan-Shu category (without arms) he was runner-up with a loss of 0.2 points to the winner from China. This was reported by the RBC Agency with reference to the press service of the Ministry on Youth Matters, Physical Training and Sports of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. The winner from Vladikavkaz is a pupil of prominent coach Vladislav Edziev, as the Regnum Agency remarks.

In July 2007, monks of the Chinese Shaolin Monastery held Wu-Shu demonstrations in Elista, Sochi, Vladikavkaz and Volgograd.

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow

    A shootout took place near an office of the “Wildberries” Company in the centre of Moscow. As a result, at least one person has been killed and several others have been wounded, sources report.   • In Volgograd, court recognizes absence of HIV therapy in prison hospital

    The Central District Court of Volgograd awarded prisoner Ruslan Mitrofan compensation in the amount of 1000 roubles, recognizing that the administration of a prison hospital in Volgograd violated the prisoner’s right to receive medical care by not providing him with an HIV medicine.
