Public Prosecutor of Abkhazia: there are no grounds to initiate criminal cases against Bagapsh and Kokoity

Safarbey Mikanba, General Public Prosecutor of Abkhazia, has treated the utterances of Nikoloz Gvaramiya, Georgian Minister of Justice, that his Ministry was gathering materials for initiation of criminal cases against leaders of Abkhazia and South Ossetia Sergey Bagapsh and Eduard Kokoity, to be groundless and cheap politics.

"These are empty statements, not confirmed by any facts and arguments. There are no legal grounds for opening criminal cases against Bagapsh and Kokoity, unlike the Georgian leadership, who repeatedly committed crimes and genocide against Abkhazia and South Ossetia and their people," the Public Prosecutor of Abkhazia told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

We remind you that according to the statement of the Minister of Justice of Georgia Nikoloz Gvaramiya, "the inquiry in relation of Bagapsh and Kokoity is already underway." "Those proofs that we already have and that we are still gathering enable us to initiate criminal cases against the leaders of separatists. The process is underway," said Mr Gvaramiya and emphasized that in case of initiation of criminal cases, Bagapsh and Kokoity will be announced into international search.

Meanwhile, under the information at disposal of Public Prosecutor Safarbey Mikanba, "the authorities of Georgia have released from custody all the so-called guerrillas and moved them to the Western Georgia, closer to the border with Abkhazia for accomplishment of acts of sabotage and terror in the territory of the Gali District and kidnapping of peaceful citizens."

Thus, as he said, on September 21, Georgian saboteurs kidnapped a child from one of the villages in the Gali District and transported it to the Zugdidi District of Georgia. "Bandits demand ransom for releasing the child," said Mr Mikanba.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by Laurens Kogoniya, head of the Gali ROVD (District Interior Unit), that Nika Dzhalagoniya, 15, a resident of Bargyab village was kidnapped by unidentified persons on Sunday, September 21, near his house. Together with him the girl was kidnapped, with whom he walked, but she was released, while the bandits asked ransom for the boy worth 50,000 Georgian laris.
