Investigation sends Politkovskaya's case to General Prosecutor's Office

The bill of particulars on the case about murdering Anna Politkovskaya in 2006 has been sent to Deputy General Public Prosecutor for approval. Three persons are accused of murdering the journalist.

Three figurants in the case were accused of murdering Politkovskaya: Sergey Hadjikurbanov, Dzhabrail and Ibragim Makhmudovs. One more figurant - Pavel Ryaguzov - was accused of excess of his official powers and extortion.

According to RIA "Novosti", the Investigatory Committee of the General Prosecutor's Office (ICGPO) reported that the investigation had failed to prove involvement of a number of figurants in the crime. Today it has become known that criminal prosecution was stopped in relation to one former figurant in the case - Shamil Buraev, former head of the Achkhoy-Martan District of Chechnya.

"Out of the above criminal case, a separate case was isolated in relation to the direct murderer Rustam Makhmudov and other persons, which is still investigated," notes the ICGPO.

According to "Interfax", Anna Politkovskaya's murder case will be considered by jurymen.
