Wanted ex-mayor of Stavropol detained in Austria

Dmitri Kuzmin, former mayor of Stavropol who is in the international wanted list, has been detained in one of the Austrian airports, reports a source at the main Russian MoI department for South Federal District.

Kuzmin was put into the international wanted list  on the charge of inflicting damage to the city in the amount of 16.3 million rubles. On November 26, 2007, a criminal case was initiated against him under the article on abuse of power.

According to the source at the main Russian MoI department for South Federal District, appropriate documents are being prepared for extraditing Kuzmin to the Russian Federation, reports "Interfax-Yug".

On February 12, investigation units of SKP for Stavropol krai initiated a criminal case against the mayor of Stavropol under the charge of his abuse of power for private purposes and contrary to the interests of his service. This was a second charge against the mayor of Stavropol.

Initially, a criminal case against him was initiated under the article "Illegal disposal of municipal housing stock". Kuzmin is suspected of the fact that, on July 2005, he signed a resolution on an exchange of housing facilities between the city and an employee of the krai government. This inflicted a property damage to the city in the amount of 1.3 million rubles.
