US Ambassador: Georgia and Ukraine are not yet ready to be NATO members

Victoria Nuland, US Ambassador to NATO, asserts that Ukraine and Georgia, whose accession to NATO's Membership Action Plan was postponed till December, are not yet ready to become members of the Alliance.

"There's no NATO member ready to state today that Ukraine and Georgia are ready to become NATO members," Ms Ambassador said.

At the same time, the USA support the accession of the two republics to the Action Plan, Ms Nuland has noted, since it is "a NATO training program, which helps countries to strengthen democracy and reforms, and to solve those internal problems in place in both countries so that they get ready for Alliance membership", the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Victoria Nuland has stressed that Ukraine's and Georgia's stay in the Action Plan format depends on the countries themselves.
