HRC "Memorial" to present another chronicle of violence in Chechnya

On June 27, at a press conference in Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" will present the fourth part of the violence chronicle in Chechnya entitled "People Live Here", dedicated to the period from July to September 2001.

"At night of August 20, in the Duba-Yurt village unknown armed persons in camouflage and masks rushed into the house of Musa Yasadov and shot dead everyone who was there: the wife of the house owner Kalisat Alkhazurovna Yasadova, born in 1961, and their daughter Masani Musaevna Yasadova, born in 1983. In the morning, local residents found their bodies in the bedroom. Their 8-month daughter - the only survival, was creeping near the body of Masani Yasadova," runs a fragment of the 350-page publication compiled by Usam Baisaev and Dmitri Grushkin.

The chronicle is based on the materials gathered by employees of the Human Rights Centre "Memorial" and volunteers.

"With every new edition, we clearly see the persistence and consistency, with which Russian power agencies have been executing, for months and years, terror against their population," runs the foreword to the edition. "And every time, it becomes more and more noticeable, how these oppressed and worn-out people - brothers, sisters, wives, or as they are treated by the press, 'black widows' of those who had been kidnapped and murdered without any trial and investigation, being tired of seeking justice in power structures, prosecutor's office and human rights activists, start to revenge."
