US wants to help Armenia to buy flats for refugees

The US Government is inclined to help Armenia in the accommodation of Armenian refugees. The press-service of the National Assembly of Armenia reported that this question had been discussed at the meeting of Parliament Speaker Artur Bagdasarian with the Armenian office head of the US Agency for International Development Keith Simons.

Bagdasarian suggested that Simons bring in the USAID programs the program of the accommodation of 4 thousand families from Azerbaijan who still live in temporal dwellings. Mr. Simons promised the Armenian Parliament Speaker to bring the financing of housing of refugees in support programs for Armenia that are maintained by the US Government.

It should be noted that over 300 thousand people fled from Azerbaijan to Armenia during the Karabah conflict in 1988-1991. Many of them still have no permanent residence.
