Compensations appointed to relatives of Donetsk air crash victims

On April 21, the Moskovskiy District Federal Court of St-Petersburg considered two claims for compensation of moral damage lodged by relatives of the victims at Tu-154 aircraft crash, flight "Anapa - St-Petersburg", near Donetsk in August 2006. Both claims were partially satisfied.

Claimant Sergey Nikolin who lost his mother and sister, pupil of form 10, in the air crash, demanded 14,298,000 roubles in favour of himself and his grandparents. The claim was partially satisfied: the "Rossiya" State Transport Company will pay 300,000 (note - it is equivalent to 12,800$) to the young man and 100,000 to each of the grandparents.

According to the court decision, Olga Burkanova, a resident of the city of Norilsk, who lost her only daughter Snezhana Vorontsova in the accident, will be paid 300,000 roubles. The woman had claimed 7,149,000 from the "Rossiya" STC.

The Moskovskiy District Federal Court of St-Petersburg made decisions on compensation of moral damage to relatives of the victims in the range from 70,000 to 500,000 roubles for every victim. When defining a particular sum, the Court took into consideration the circumstances of the accident, the number of victims and the number of their relatives who filed claims against the air carrier. The relatives had demanded compensations in the sum of 2,780,000 roubles for each victim, the Regions.ru agency informs.

The "Caucasian Knot" has already informed that the relatives of the victims in the air crash of the "Anapa - St-Petersburg" flight also filed a collective complaint to the European Court for Human Rights in Strasbourg. They think that their right to fair trial was broken and are going to demand appropriate compensations.
