Armenian Assembly of America attaches highlight to visit of authoritative officials from staffs of US senators and congressmen
?We hope we?ll manage to make sure that our friends ? congressmen, senators and their assistants will get more information on the range of Armenian problems which are of current importance to Armenia and the Diaspora?, said the regional director of the Armenian Assembly of America (AAA) Arpi Vardanian. She said the AAA considered the visit to Armenia it had organized for ten authoritative officials from the staffs of several US senators and congressmen very important. Arpi Vardanian informed that the members of the delegation would prepare reports for the American parliamentarians.
The regional director of the AAA noticed that the members of the delegation were interested in economic situation in Armenia and ?they wanted to see themselves how effectively Armenia used the financial support of the USAID?. This monitoring will be relevant for the Congress in drafting a bill to give Armenia the status of the regular US trading partner.
The meetings with the Catholicos of all Armenians, the US Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia, the head of the USAID office, the officials of the US Embassy and various American organizations in Armenia have already been held within the limits of the visit. The meetings with the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister and summits in the Ministry of Defense and the National Assembly are also to take place.
On August 21 the delegation will return to the United States.
