Teens arrested in Stavropol Territory within extremist community case

Seven minors from the Stavropol Territory, whom investigators treat as members of an extremist community, have been taken into custody. Another teenager has been placed under house arrest.

A group of minors has been detained in the Stavropol Territory, one of them is charged under Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (organization of an extremist community), the rest of them – under Part 2 of this article (participation in an extremist community), the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported in his Telegram channel on June 5.

According to investigators, in November 2024, a 16-year-old teenager organized an extremist community in Stavropol, "involving seven peers and one 15-year-old teen."

"He created a closed channel in one of the messengers, through which he coordinated activities to prepare and commit extremist crimes," the report says.

Part 1 of Article 282.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for up to 10 years of freedom deprivation; Part 2 thereof – up to six years.

The extremist community was joined by "eight 15-17-year-old teenagers, one of whom had not reached the age of criminal responsibility," the Stavropol Territorial Branch of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) announced in its website on June 5.

They painted graphic images with Nazi paraphernalia on fences, buildings and structures.

"From November 2024 to May 2025, while being in places accessible to citizens, they painted graphic images with Nazi paraphernalia and symbols of an extremist grouping on fences, buildings and structures with the aim of popularizing its activities. The members of the community also committed actions aimed at inciting hostility and hatred towards groups of people identified on the basis of nationality, and planned to commit violent crimes against the above-mentioned groups of citizens," the report further says.

Employees of the Centre for Combating Extremism (Centre “E”), the Federal Security Service (FSB), and the “Rosgvardiya” (Russian National Guard) were involved in the detentions. "Seven figurants are behind bars, and one is under house arrest," the report says.
