Military man's appeal draws Dagestani head’s attention to death of woman in labour
The head of Dagestan has promised a participant in the special military operation (SMO) a fair inquiry into the circumstances of the death of his sister, who died after a caesarean section in Derbent.
The Ministry of Public Health of Dagestan has launched an investigation into the doctors’ actions at the Derbent Central City Hospital after the death of a woman in labour from peritonitis. The doctors have been suspended from work.
Sergey Melikov, the head of Dagestan, has reported that Mevlan Magomedov, a fighter at the SMO, had addressed him for help. "His sister, a mother of many children, has died at the above hospital in January after a caesarean section," Mr Melikov has explained.
He has expressed his condolences to the soldier, noting that if those responsible for the woman's death are identified, they should "be punished as they deserve."
