Blogger Alibekov's case on discrediting Russian Army stopped
A court in Novorossiysk has dismissed the case against Askhabali Alibekov, a blogger, initiated on a repeated discrediting of the Russian Army due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. This was reported by the “OVD-Info”* human rights project, citing Alibekov's advocate.
In March 2023, Askhabali Alibekov, a former military serviceman, was sentenced to one year and two months of freedom deprivation. The court found that the video posted in Alibekov's YouTube channel "Wild Paratrooper" had discredited the Russian Army. In November of the same year, Alibekov was set free.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 9, 2024, Askhabali Alibekov was sentenced to two years and four months of freedom deprivation. According to investigators, he hit a policeman in the leg during his detention. The blogger claimed that he had hit the law enforcer by accident, as his arms were twisted. The Supreme Court (SC) of Tatarstan reduced his term by four months. Human rights defenders declared him to be a political prisoner.
