Comedian Slepakov* appeals against fine imposed under foreign agents law

Semyon Slepakov*, a comedian and a singer, has challenged the fine of 30,000 roubles imposed on him for posting his materials without the foreign agent label.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that Semyon Slepakov*, a native of the Stavropol Territory, is suing the authorities, who had assigned him the status of a foreign agent. On September 14, he filed a complaint with the Supreme Court (SC) of Russia against the instances' ruling, which refused to satisfy his claim against the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) demanding to remove his foreign agent status from him.

The MoJ added Slepakov* to the list of foreign agents back in April 2023 due to his "anti-Russian songs and poems." Semyon "had received support from foreign sources, condemned the actions of Russian authorities in Ukraine, formed a negative attitude towards military service and spoke negatively about Russian citizens." Now, he lives outside of Russia.

The Russian SC, where Slepakov* had lodged his complaint against the decisions on his foreign agent status, has refused to consider his complaint, the RIA "Novosti" has reported.

*Included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) into the register of foreign agents.
