Dagestani villagers complain to Putin about inaction of officials

In their video message to President Putin, residents of the mountain village of Kulibukhna complained that the road in their village needs repairs, but their appeals to local officials had not yielded any results.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that residents of high-mountain villages in Dagestan have repeatedly complained about the problem with roads. So, in June, the settlement of Kadani in the village of Tsudakhar was cut off from the outside world after turbulent river streams washed away the road to the settlement. Local residents complain that the problem of communication with the village of Kadani occurs regularly, but officials do nothing to solve it.

A video message from residents of the village of Kulibukhna, which is a part of the Tsudakhar village council of the Levashinsky District, was posted in the “Golos Dagestana/Novosti Dagestana” (Voice of Dagestan/News of Dagestan) Telegram channel. “The appeal from the residents of the village of Kulibukhna to President Putin. The villagers are directly asking Vladimir Putin to pay attention to their situation, since the local authorities do nothing to solve the problem,” the annotation to the video explains.

In their appeal, the villagers have stated that since 2021, they have been contacting the village council administration, the district administration, and the prosecutor’s office, but have not received help.

“We have to continue to appeal, up to President Putin. It is impossible for an ambulance to arrive to our village, and our schoolchildren cannot walk along the road, because that is very dangerous. In case of a landslide, they can just fall through. Therefore, we are addressing our President Putin [with a request] to help us in this situation,” the authors of the appeal stated.

The road reconstruction project was launched in 2021, the village residents have explained.
