Resident of Rostov Region arrested for six months for arson of military commissariat

The Morozovsk District Court has placed Ivan Svistov in custody for six months, accusing him of hooliganism after attempting to set fire to the military commissariat (registration and enlistment office).

On November 7, 2023, sources reported that a 50-year-old resident of the Rostov Region attempted to set fire to the military commissariat in the town of Morozovsk and was detained at the scene by law enforcers.

The above court began considering Svistov's case under articles on hooliganism and attempted intentional damage or destruction of one's property.

Let us remind you that the Rostov Region has seen repeated arson attacks on administrative buildings, including military commissariats, in protest against the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine. In particular, on July 11, it became known that in the town of Semikarakorsk, law enforcers detained a student who, according to investigators, was on the way to a humanitarian aid collection point in order to set it on fire.

On September 30, 2022, Vladimir Tsimliansky, an officer of the Russian General Staff, said that the arson attacks on military commissariats would be classified as terror acts.
