SMO fighters appeal to Putin over seizure of land plots from Kurush villagers

Bureaucrats fail to address the problem of taking away pasture lands from the residents of the village of Kurush, where the Samursky National Park was created, and fail to respond to numerous complaints. This was stated by the participants in the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine from the Dokuzparinsky District of Dagestan in their video appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin. They asked him to order an inspection so that the land plots would be returned to the villagers.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on April 22, 2023, Kurush villagers recorded a video appeal to Vladimir Putin and Sergey Melikov, the head of Dagestan, with a complaint that local authorities had unjustifiably transferred the lands on which they used to graze their livestock to the Samursky National Park. Livestock farming is the only income for villagers, they emphasized.

The above national park created in the Dokuzparinsky District violates the rights of Kurush villagers and the law, since it monopolizes tourist sites in this territory and displaces the traditional economic activities, three SMO fighters have stated in their video appeal to Putin. The video appeal was posted in the Telegram channel of the "Chernovik" (Draft) outlet.

Villagers have filed complaints with various authorities, but in response, they received letters stating that no villagers' interests had been violated. “Residents of the village of Kurush lost not only the right to acquire property, but also to further use it,” said one of the above fighters.

The Samursky National Park was created by Resolution of the Russian government in December 2019. In November 2021, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources approved the regulations on the National Park. Its creation has to do with the need to preserve and restore the biological diversity, unique natural complexes and objects of the Samur River basin, ensuring conditions for the rational use of them for recreational, scientific and environmental educational purposes, the website of the National Park proclaims.
