Relatives of Dagestani resident complain of torture and criminal case falsification

Law enforcers have kidnapped Farkhad Kaziev, a resident of the village of Belidzhi, Derbent District, tortured him and accused him of a murder committed in 2011. At the same time, proofs of his alibi disappear from the case files, his relatives assert.

Farkhad Kaziev has been deprived of his freedom for about a year because of unjustified charges, his mother, Subhanat Kazieva, has written to the Telegram channel of the "Caucasian Knot".

On July 13, 2023, law enforcers kidnapped Farkhad. “They put a bag over his head, took him to an unknown place and began brutally beating him,” said his mother, adding that her son was tortured with electric shock.

“They suppressed his will ... and filmed his allegedly sincere confession to the murder of our neighbour Ragimat Novruzbekova committed in April 2011 allegedly by my son together with our neighbour Emir. My son is accused of robbery; and Emir - of a murder and robbery,” Ms Kazieva has explained.

Ragimat Novruzbekova was found murdered in April 2011. At that time, Farkhad Kaziev was in Moscow, which is confirmed by the materials of the criminal case, his mother has noted.

According to Farkhad's relatives, there were so many signs of torture on his body that law enforcers did not send him to the SIZO (pre-trial prison). They returned him to his relatives on the condition that Kaziev would be in privacy away from prying eyes, but his relatives had filmed the signs of torture.

Ramin Amirov, Kaziev’s advocate, has complained about absence of any reaction from the prosecutor’s office and the Investigating Committee. According to his version, the operative agents said that they had detained Kaziev, but they wrote on paper that he came to them voluntarily and wrote a confession.
