The families of 21 people who perished during the militant attacks’ in Dagestan received 5 million roubles each from businessman Suleiman Kerimov. In addition, the amount of 50 million roubles was allocated for the restoration of the synagogue in Derbent, damaged during the militants’ attack, MP Khizri Abakarov reported.

The assistance is also being provided for the restoration of the church and the synagogue in Derbent, the MP has added.

Let us remind you that according to the investigators’ version, the grouping, which members carried out the attacks in Makhachkala and Derbent, was created by Osman Omarov, a son of Magomed Omarov, the head of the Sergokalinsky District. After the militants’ attack, Magomed Omarov was expelled from the “Edinaya Rossiya” (United Russia) Party, dismissed from his position, and arrested under the article on petty hooliganism.

The militants’ attacks could have been prevented if the law enforcement bodies had more carefully guarded religious objects in Dagestan and paid due attention to preventive work, veterans of the special services pointed out.
