Defrauded real estate investors from Nalchik outraged by indifference of local authorities

The lack of progress in the investigation and support from local officials has forced people to write down an appeal to President Putin, claim real estate investors who have been waiting for several years for the delivery of an apartment building in Nalchik. Investigators report that the criminal case instituted against the developer has been suspended.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the defrauded real estate investors from Kabardino-Balkaria recorded a video message to Russian President Vladimir Putin asking for help in solving their problem. The investors claimed that construction of the apartment building in Nalchik was started in 2019 and that at least 72 real estate investors paid money to purchase apartments in it.

Real estate investor Angela Khatkova states that one of the two apartment buildings was built up to its fourth floor, but the second was stopped at the pit level. The defrauded real estate investors were left with nothing: they got neither money nor housing.

It is reported that the developer took not only cash, but also plots of land, cars, and houses. For example, Juliet Echmokova gave the developer her house that she inherited from her mother in exchange for an apartment, but got nothing in exchange.

“I have four children, and the youngest one has been disabled since his birth ... My husband and I were happy when we invested in an apartment,” said Irina Dyshekova.

Several more real estate investors sold their properties, invested the money in construction and were left with nothing. So, Lyusya Balkarova and Radik Masaev say that they with their families now live in rented apartments.

The deceived citizens filed complaints to the authorities of Kabardino-Balkaria, in particular, republic’s leader Kazbek Kokov, but, according to their version, they did not receive any answer.

The head of the “Real Estate-Nalchik” LLC has been accused of fraud on an especially large scale, the Prosecutor’s Office of Kabardino-Balkaria reports. He managed to receive 49 million roubles in advance, which he spent at his own discretion.

When asked what answer they expect from the President of the country, the real estate investors say they want the state to find an opportunity to complete the construction of the apartment building and provide them with the apartments for which they paid the developer.
