“Alternative” reports about citizen of Belarus who escaped from labour slavery in Kaspiysk

A brick factory located not far from Kaspiysk, against whose top managers a criminal case has been instituted for using slave labour, continues to operate, the “Alternative” anti-slavery movement reports. Volunteers have recalled a story of Stanislav Zhukov, a citizen of Belarus, who escaped from the above-mentioned brick factory, was hit by a car, and got his leg amputated.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 25, it became known that volunteers from the “Alternative” movement helped Minsk resident Dmitry escape from labour slavery at a brick factory located not far from Kaspiysk. The man came to Dagestan at his own will and found a job at the brick factory, the Dagestani Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported on the results of the inspection carried out.

In its Telegram channel, the “Alternative” anti-slavery movement reported a story of Stanislav Zhukov, a citizen of Belarus. When he visited Moscow, two men offered him a job as a tractor driver on a farm, but they brought him to a brick factory located not far from Kaspiysk. “Despite the fact that a criminal case was instituted, the brick factory continues to operate,” the “Alternative” movement notes.

Stanislav Zhukov’s money and passport were taken away the same day he was brought to the brick factory. Workers were paid no wages, and they could only ask managers to buy something. Stanislav tried to defend his rights, but he was beaten and kicked.

In March, Stanislav Zhukov managed to escape. The man was hit by a car and was hospitalized. He does not remember well the events of those days, and he cannot confirm whether he was chased or not. Stanislav received severe injuries in the road traffic accident, and he got his leg amputated by the knee.

A volunteer from the “Alternative” movement organized transportation of Stanislav Zhukov to Moscow, where the man received documents so that he could return to Belarus.

On January 27, Dagestani journalists pointed out that during recent years, the problem of labour slavery has become less acute in the republic. The practice of labour slavery is gaining momentum in the Rostov Region, the Stavropol Territory, and Adygea, the “Alternative” movement reports.
