Kalmyk activist Vladimir Dovdanov* announced wanted

The police have put on the wanted list Vladimir Dovdanov, a Kalmyk activist, who has fled Russia, and is accused of calling for undermining the state security.

On March 4, 2024, it became known that Vladimir Dovdanov, a deputy chairman of the Congress of the Oirat-Kalmyk People**, who is now in Lithuania, became a suspect within a criminal case about public calls for activities against the Russia's state security.

According to investigators, in September 2023, a video was posted on the YouTube, in which Dovdanov called on the Ukrainian Army to destroy Russian military equipment.

According to the "Mediazona"*, in 2022, Dovdanov said that he had to leave Kalmykia for Lithuania. "I am a pensioner, an honoured person, but it is impossible to turn a blind eye to this injustice that Russia is committing," he is quoted as saying.

Let us recall that on August 16, 2023, Dovdanov was fined for calls for violating Russia's territorial integrity. On August 18 of the same year he was added to the register of foreign agents.

In August 2023, the Supreme Court of Kalmykia satisfied the prosecutor's claim to recognize the Congress of the Oirat-Kalmyk people as an extremist organization and ban its activities in Russia.
