Kadyrov posts joint video with detained General Tsakaev

After his harsh detention by law enforcers in Dagestan, General Alikhan Tsakaev appeared in public for the first time; a video of his participation in the meeting was posted by Ramzan Kadyrov.

The Main Directorate for the North Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) has reported about a check of the incident with General Tsakaev, the head of the Chechen Ministry for Emergencies (MfE), at a checkpoint in Dagestan. According to the above Directorate, the General's harsh detention was preceded by his driving in the oncoming lane, aggressive behaviour and an attempt to escape. The detainee has also hit law enforcers.

On April 14, at the "Gerzel" checkpoint in Dagestan, road-and-patrol (DPS) inspectors harshly detained Major General Alikhan Tsakaev, who is also Kadyrov's classmate. The head of Chechnya has treated the incident as provocation and demanded from Dagestani authorities to fire those who had used force to drag the General out of his car. Kadyrov insists that "Alikhan Garmanovich committed no gross violation."

DPS inspectors have the right to stop any car and detain the driver, including by using force, if his behaviour threatens road users and law enforcers themselves, lawyers had pointed out earlier.
