ECtHR finds violations of protesters' rights in Ingushetia and Krasnodar Territory

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has awarded compensations to a Magas protester in March 2019, and to seven activists from the Krasnodar Territory.

Compensation of EUR 3500 has been awarded to Isropil Nalgiev, an activist, who was fined for taking part in a protest held in the city of Magas in March 2019, and then sentenced to 11 months in a penal colony. The ECtHR has stated that during the consideration of Nalgiev's case the principle of impartiality was violated.

Olesya Khristisenko, a Sochi activist, was awarded compensation of EUR 5000. She served arrests for taking part in a rally and action in support of Alexei Navalny held in June and October 2017.

The ECtHR has awarded similar compensation to Sochi residents, Valery Tuaev and Sergey Loman, who took part in various protests and served their arrests for this.

Compensation of EUR 5000 has been awarded to Rostislav Chulevsky, a Krasnodar resident, who took part in a protest in May 2018, was fined and arrested for 24 hours.

The ECtHR has awarded EUR 3500 in compensation to Lyubov Mishina from Krasnodar, Victoria Guschina from Anapa and Mikhail Voronchikhin, who were fined for an action in support of Navalny held in January 2021.
