Six people killed in shootout with law enforcers in Karabulak

During a shootout in Karabulak, law enforcers have killed six militants, the Russian National Antiterrorism Committee (NAC) has reported. The counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime has been cancelled; the operative headquarters of Ingushetia has informed.

On March 2, the CTO regime was introduced in Karabulak. The NAC reported that at a detention attempt, militants opened fire on law enforcers, a shootout occurred; and residents of nearby houses were evacuated.

"The bandits have been preliminarily identified. According to available data, they were adherents of the international terrorist organization ISIL* (banned in the Russian Federation) and were involved in a number of terrorist crimes, including an attack on a road-and-patrol police post (DPS) and the murder of three policemen in March 2023," the "Interfax" quotes the NAC's statement.

According to the NAC, three of those six killed had been on the federal wanted list.

Let us remind you that the CTO in Karabulak was the second one in Ingushetia within 11 months. The previous one was announced in April 2023 in the Malgobek District.

*On December 29, 2014, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recognized the organization "Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant" (ISIL or IS) as a terrorist international organization and banned its activities in Russia.
