Resident of Rostov-on-Don fined for failure to obey law enforcers’ request

In Rostov-on-Don, a court found Valentina Mrykhina, who was detained while laying flowers in memory of Alexei Navalny*, guilty of failure to obey a lawful request of law enforcers and fined her 2000 roubles.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that after the death of Alexei Navalny*, residents of the country’s cities, including in Southern Russia, were persecuted for attempting to honour the memory of the victims of repression. So, at least seven persons were detained in Taganrog, and one of them was fined for failure to obey a lawful request of the police. In Stavropol, activists reported that dozens were taken to police stations.

On February 17, in Rostov-on-Don, law enforcers detained Valentina Mrykhina, who laid flowers at the monument to the victims of repression, the human rights project “OVD-Info”** reports.

Let us remind you that on February 2, 2021, the court sentenced Alexei Navalny* to 3.5 years of imprisonment. Later, new charges were brought against him and the term of his imprisonment was prolonged. Political analysts recognized the actions in support of Alexei Navalny* in January 2021 as the most massive in recent decades in Russia.
