Native of Chechnya detained in France after teacher's murder

Policemen in the city of Arras, France, have detained a native of Chechnya suspected of attacking a school, which resulted in the death of a teacher and two people receiving stabbed wounds.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that three years ago, on October 16, 2020, in a Paris suburb, teacher Samuel Paty was beheaded; earlier, during a lesson on the freedom of speech, he showed his pupils caricatures of Prophet Muhammad from Charlie Hebdo magazine. The alleged killer was shot dead by policemen; he turned out to be an 18-year-old Russian citizen, a native of Chechnya, Abdulak (Abdullakh) Anzorov, who had received refugee status in France.

Now, the attacker at the school in Arras was a 20-year-old Chechen born in Russia, the French outlet BFMTV has reported.

The National Prosecutor's Office for Combating Terrorism has launched an investigation under the articles "Murder committed in connection with terrorist activities" and "Attempted murder committed in connection with terrorist activities."

The attacker is Mokhamad Mogushkov; in France he was included in the "S" list for "radical Islamism", the Le Figaro has reported.
