Makhachkala residents voice to picketer their words of support for journalist Gadjiev

During a solo picket in support of Dagestani journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev, passers-by conveyed wishes and words of support to him, noted picketer Magomed Magomedov. His colleague Idris Yusupov held a picket in support of historian Khadjimurad Donogo, considering the disruption of his lecture to be another fact of persecution of the scientist.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev consider his criminal case to be political persecution and hold solo pickets in his support in Makhachkala every week.

Magomed Magomedov, a deputy editor-in-chief of the Dagestani weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft), noted that the number of reactions of passers-by to solo pickets held on October 2 and the number of words of support for Abdulmumin Gadjiev were greater than usually during such actions. Earlier, people asked about some details of the criminal case against Abdulmumin Gadjiev. However, this time, all the passers-by who approached expressed their wishes to Abdulmumin Gadjiev and talked about their experiences after the verdict had been announced.

Journalist Idris Yusupov said that on October 2, he decided to hold a picket in support of Dagestani historian Khadjimurad Donogo, since his lecture, which was supposed to take place on September 30, was cancelled. The owner of the building where the lecture was to be held was advised to cancel it. “The lecture was disrupted by law enforcers,” explained Idris Yusupov.

The lecture touched on the topic of the Mountainous Republic of the Northern Caucasus (MRNC) and its short existence.

The journalist recalled that not long ago, a search was conducted at Khadjimurad Donogo’s house, as a result of which documents and books were confiscated. Even earlier, when he was asked to write a letter of resignation of his own free will, Khadjimurad Donogo was deprived of the opportunity to teach and work in the museum.
