Kadyrov's associates approve beating up of Volgograd man arrested for burning Koran

The Chechen officials close to Ramzan Kadyrov have praised his son after reports that he had beaten Nikita Zhuravel at the Grozny SIZO (pre-trial prison); Nikita was arrested in connection with the burning down of the Koran.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on August 16, Mansur Soltaev, the Chechen Ombudsperson, reported on the meeting with Nikita Zhuravel after his complaint about the beating by Kadyrov's son, and stated the need to involve investigating bodies to conduct a check.

Adam Delimkhanov, an adviser to the head of Chechnya and a State Duma MP, gave an approving assessment of the beating of the arrested person. "Without a doubt, I fully support Adam (the Kadyrov's son involved), and I am sure that his actions were absolutely justified," says the MP's Telegram channel.

A similar post has been placed in the Telegram channel of Magomed Daudov, the Chairman of the Chechen Parliament. "We are not surprised by Adam's act. We not only understand him, but we warmly support and approve him!" says the post.

The beating of the arrested person was also approved by Akhmed Dudaev, the Chechen Minister for National Policy, Foreign Relations, Press and Information.

Eva Merkacheva, a member of the Presidential Council for Human Rights, has called on the leadership of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service (known as FSIN) to transfer Zhuravel to another region.

Let us remind you that Nikita Zhuravel, a resident of Volgograd, who had recorded a video with the burning down of the Koran, was detained on May 20, 2023, in Volgograd. He stated that he had done it at the direction of Ukrainian special services.

Since the start of the year, Ramzan Kadyrov has reacted angrily at least four times to incidents of Koran burning. Besides, he called to execute the burners of the Koran. Thus, in March, he promised to pay five million roubles for the execution of the participants in the video in which a page from the Koran was used to light a fire.
