In February 2023, four people perished during the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In February 2023, during the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus, four people perished; there were no reports of the wounded ones. These are the results of the calculations run by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from open sources.

On February 8, the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced at the Petrovsky Farm in the Stavropol Territory. The next day, the CTO regime was cancelled. During the CTO, four militants were killed, who, according to law enforcers, had planned a terror act at the railway station. Two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found at the place of the shootout.

The CTO regime in the Stavropol Territory was introduced for the first time in the last five years. Before that, the CTO was held in Stavropol in December 2017 in order to prevent a terror act. The last time victims of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus were recorded in last December. Then, two alleged militants were killed.

In other regions of Northern Caucasus, which include Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia-Alania and Chechnya, no armed incidents or victims of the armed conflict were recorded in February 2023.

The given statistics cannot accurately reflect the number of victims. Not all the data is included into news bulletins. It is not always possible to check how true the statements of law enforcement bodies are; and new data on the events that happened in the reporting period become known sometimes after the publication of statistics on the "Caucasian Knot".

Earlier, in January 2022, no victims were reported of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus.
