Lawyers comment on prosecution's position in Gadjiev's case

After the state prosecutor has ignored experts' conclusions and demanded 19 years in colony for Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov and Kemal Tambiev each, the court would not dare to pass an acquittal, but could impose a softer sentence, the advocates believe.

On June 22, the state prosecutor demanded to sentence Gadjiev, Rizvanov and Tambiev, accused of financing terrorism, to 19 years of freedom deprivation each. The prosecutor ignored the experts' arguments and witnesses' testimonies of, Gadjiev has noted.

On May 18, the completion of the judicial investigation was announced. The third examination, which the prosecution insisted on, like the previous ones, failed to find any calls for illegal actions in Gadjiev's publications.

The prosecutor has asked to sentence each of the defendants to imprisonment in a high security colony, Dana Sakieva, Gadjiev's wife, has added. The prosecutor asserts that at the trial, the court has fully proved the defendants' involvement in the activities of the terrorist organizations ISIL*, the "Congress of the Peoples of Ichkeria and Dagestan"*, and the "Supreme Military Majlisul Shura of the United Forces of Caucasian Mujahideens"*, as well as the financing thereof, Ms Sakieva has noted.

Ruslan Nagiev, one of the advocates, has confirmed that the prosecutor had read out the indictment while ignoring all the defence's arguments.

In his turn, Timofei Shirokov, another advocate, believes that there is a possibility that the court will impose a more lenient sentence than demanded by the prosecutor.
