Ulker Gashimova, who escaped from Russia, arrested in Dagestan

Ulker Gashimova, a resident of Derbent, who tried to leave Russia, is at the Makhachkala SIZO (pre-trial prison). The girl's family has no money for an advocate, her bridegroom has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 5 this year, law enforcers detained Ulker Gashimova at a Moscow airport when she tried to fly out of Russia. Her bridegroom said that the girl planned to apply for political asylum in the Netherlands. On May 8, it became known that the 23-year-old Gashimova was arrested for 10 days; she was charged under the article "Disobedience to the demand of a military in connection with the performance of his duties to protect the border of Russia." After two arrests in the Moscow Region, Gashimova was sent to Dagestan. According to her bridegroom, law enforcers took away her documents and limited communication with her.

"Unfortunately, the family has no funds to conclude an agreement with an advocate; now we are trying to resolve this issue with human rights defenders," the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project quoted Anton Kolomitsyn, the bridegroom, as saying.

Earlier, he said that law enforcers had searched Gashimova's home. Meanwhile, a criminal case was opened against Kolomitsyn himself in Russia under the article on the disclosure of state secrets due to his publication of topographic maps. In 2020, he emigrated from the country.
