Court blocks YouTube channel of Circassian activist Yaganov*

In his YouTube channel, Ibragim Yaganov, a Circassian activist from Kabardino-Balkaria, had posted extremist materials and justified terrorism, the court has ruled and issued a judgement to block the channel.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in November 2022, it became known that Ibragim Yaganov had announced the creation of the "Circassian Volunteer Battalion" in Ukraine to participate in hostilities against Russia. The announcement aroused interest among Circassians in Russia and abroad only as a political statement; there will be few people willing to sign up as volunteers, Circassian activists have indicated.

The court blocked the "Cherces" Ibragim Yaganov's channel due to the fact that "informational materials of extremist nature" were placed there, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.

According to the prosecutor's office, Yaganov's videos also contain "the information that discredited the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation."

Now, there are 11 video clips posted in the channel; most recent of them are discussing "issues about the future of statehood in Northern Caucasus."

In January this year, the Russian Ministry of Justice added Yaganov to the register of foreign agents, explaining that he had received support from foreign sources and called for a "fight against the state power" in Russia.
