One of those killed by law enforcers in Gudermes turned out to be mentally ill

Ruslan Elkhadjiev, who was killed by law enforcers in Gudermes, had suffered from a mental illness, many people in the city know about this, a source of the "Caucasian Knot" has reported. The information about the mental disorder of the eldest of the two killed Elkhadjievs was confirmed by the authors of the report of the Chechen state TV channel.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that at night on March 29, sources reported an attack on a police post in the city of Gudermes, and that two men were shot dead by law enforcers. Ramzan Kadyrov stated that law enforcers had blocked two militants who refused to surrender and threw a grenade at law enforcers and were killed. Several people identified the casualties as uncle and nephew, the blogger, Tumso Abdurakhmanov, has informed. In his turn, Akhmed Dudaev, the Chechen Minister for Press, said that "two armed terrorists rendered aggressive resistance." According to his version, in the house, "where the terrorists were hiding and from where they delivered returned fire," there were also a woman and children who were saved by Ramzan Kadyrov, who organized their evacuation from the house.

Those killed in Gudermes were Ruslan Elkhadjiev and his sister's son Zelim Elkhadjiev; the whole family lived in a private house, an author of the "Niyso" Telegram channel, which is in opposition to Chechen authorities, has explained, adding that Ruslan Elkhadjiev was "mentally ill."

The armed incident with two casualties in Gudermes on March 29 occurred a day after the attack on the DPS (traffic police) post located on the Ingush-North-Ossetian border.

The Telegram channel of Grozny TV also states that Ruslan Elkhadjiev suffered from a mental illness. "Together with Zelim Elkhadjiev, his uncle Ruslan was in the house, whom his nephew, apparently, used for his criminal purposes, despite his illness," the journalist of the TV channel has explained.

Ruslan Elkhadjiev had suffered from a mental disorder since 1988, the authors have stressed. "There is a suspicion that Zelim Elkhadjiev persuaded him to commit a terror act; and the man succumbed to the psychological influence," the TV report says.

The authors of the story have also stated that Zelim (Zelimkhan) Elkhadjiev "had used drugs in the recent past."

Abubakar Yangulbaev, a lawyer, was sceptical about the authorities' version about the terrorist background of the incident. "For me, according to the main outward signs, this "special operation" looks like a staged event aimed at strengthening the regime," he has stated.
