Attack on DPS post in Ingushetia is first in more than three years

The attack on a road-and-patrol police post (known as DPS) committed in the Nazran District of Ingushetia, where one policeman was wounded, was the first such armed incident in the republic in 39 months. The previous similar incident occurred in Magas in December 2019.

At night on March 28, unidentified people shelled the above DPS post wounding one of the policemen was in his leg.

According to the data of the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and data from open sources, the attack on the DPS post was the first in more than three years. A similar incident occurred at the entrance to Magas on December 31, 2019.

On that day, according to law enforcers, a group of three people drove up in a car to the DPS post stationed at the entrance to the city of Magas and opened fire from machine guns. Two attackers were killed on the spot, and the third one was wounded. One of the casualties was identified as Mikail Miziev, whose relative committed a similar attack on policemen in Ingushetia in 2017. The second attacker in Magas was identified as Akhmed Imagozhev, master of sports in arm wrestling.

Still earlier attack on a DPS post in Ingushetia took place on November 5, 2017, when a suicide bomber blew himself up in the DPS building near the village of Yandare in the Nazran District. His accomplices engaged in a shootout with the police; the Russian National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) then reported that two militants were killed. Six policemen received wounds; one of them died in hospital.

Besides, in September 2020, law enforcers reported an "attempt to attack" a DPS post near the village of Yuzhny, Malgobek District. Three people drove up to the post; one of them threatened a law enforcer with a pistol. He tried to shoot twice, but policemen managed to detain all the three of them.
