Defence completes presenting proofs in Abdulmumin Gadjiev's case

The advocates for Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Kemal Tambiev and Abubakar Rizvanov have completed the presentation of evidence, but Tambiev is demanding that the protocol of his first interrogation be excluded from the case files, while Rizvanov is seeking to summon new witnesses to the trial.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the prosecution in Gadjiev's case found it necessary to conduct a new examination of his articles in order to check them for any appeals. Earlier, experts were asked to find any calls for specific actions or ideas, but now "it's hard to understand what the prosecution wants," Arsen Shabanov, one of the advocates, has stated.

The previous examination found that Gadjiev's articles had no signs of incitement to transfer money to the charitable fund or overthrow the power, and no signs of propaganda of the ideas of terrorist organizations or of hatred towards law enforcers.

The defence has almost completed the presentation of evidence, Arsen Shabanov has explained, stressing that the expert's answers to the prosecution's questions cannot testify to the guilt of his client. "This is a personal matter for everyone: what way of life to lead, secular or religious. And everyone has the right to call for both lifestyles," said the advocate.

Since June 2019, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an editor of the "Chernovik" outlet, Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" Charity Fund, and Kemal Tambiev, an activist, have been in custody on charges of financing terrorism.
