Chechen native Djumaev placed in punishment cell

Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, a native of Chechnya, sentenced for using violence against law enforcers, was transferred to a punishment cell. His relatives believe that the punishment measure was deliberately used by warders of the penal colony to disrupt a visit of his mother.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on August 19, 2021, Mikail Markhiev, also known by his former name Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, was sentenced to five years of imprisonment.

In a video posted on the social media in January 2021, Said-Mukhammad Djumaev fights off law enforcers’ batons. According to the prosecutors’ version, at a rally for Navalny*, Said-Mukhammad Djumaev inflicted many blows on two OMON (riot police) fighters and a policeman.

The administration of the penal colony where Said-Mukhammad Djumaev is being kept has placed him in a punishment cell, the “OVD-Info” reports.

An aunt of Said-Mukhammad Djumaev also reported that he was placed in the ShIZO (punishment cell). The mother’s visit is scheduled for February 3, the woman clarifies.

The health of the Said-Mukhammad Djumaev’s mother deteriorated because of her nervous state, the relative added.

Let us remind you that on February 2, 2022, Ramzan Kadyrov sharply condemned Said-Mukhammad Djumaev, saying that the young man harmed the people of Chechnya. The authorities of Chechnya are trying to discredit Said-Mukhammad Djumaev because he did not make a deal with them, advocate Zaurbek Sadakhanov suggests. The young man’s courage was appreciated by both Caucasians and Russians, pointed out Ruslan Kutaev, the president of the Assembly of Caucasian Nations, and blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov. Attempts to discredit Said-Mukhammad Djumaev will not add popularity to Ramzan Kadyrov, human rights defender Svetlana Gannushkina** believes.

*Alexei Navalny is a founder of the Anti-Corruption Foundation (known as FBK), an NCO that is included by the Russian Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in the register of NCOs performing functions of a foreign agent. The NCO is also recognized by a court as extremist and banned in Russia. Navalny’s* offices are recognized as extremist organizations, and their activities are terminated by a court’s decision. On January 25, the “Rosfinmonitoring” (the Russian Federal Agency for Financial Monitoring) included Alexei Navalny in the register of extremists and terrorists.
