Court obliges Derbent hospital to eliminate violations of rights of people with disabilities

In Derbent, the court has obliged the administration of the local hospital to install ramps at the entrances to two hospital wards and seven first-aid posts, recognizing that their absence violates the rights of people with disabilities, the Prosecutor’s Office of Dagestan reports. In their comments on the social media, users called on prosecutors to check medical facilities in Dagestan more often.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office of Dagestan, it turned out that the administration of the Derbent Central City Hospital failed to install ramps at the entrance to the building of the Children’s Polyclinic No. 3, which violates the rights of people with disabilities.

Similar violations were found in another polyclinic in Derbent, as well as in seven feldsher-obstetric stations in the district.

The Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit to the Derbent City Court, which obliged the administration of the Derbent Central City Hospital to provide people with disabilities with unhindered access to hospital wards and first-aid posts.

Let us remind you that Dagestani activists have repeatedly drawn attention of the public to the problem of violation of the rights of people with disabilities by various public institutions. So, on December 31, 2021, in Makhachkala, a court upheld the demands to install a ramp at the entrance to the district administration building and then improve it. Numerous lawsuits against officials have improved the situation with the accessibility of public institutions for people with disabilities, activist Ziyautdin Uvaisov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
