Law enforcers disrupt picket in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Dagestani journalist

In Makhachkala, policemen have detained Magomed Magomedov, a journalist, who was holding a solo picket in support of his arrested colleague, and Abdulmumin Gadjiev's mother.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, an editor of the "Chernovik" weekly outlet, treat his criminal case as political persecution, and are regularly holding pickets in Makhachkala in his support. For the second week in a row, pickets attract law enforcers' increased attention, which has to do with the pressure on the "Chernovik" and is aimed at stopping the pickets, Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the outlet, stated on December 26.

Policemen have stopped Magomed Magomedov's solo picket, the "Chernovik" reports.

"Apart from Magomedov, policemen have also detained Abdulmumin Gadjiev's mother. A policeman suspected that she was filming something on her phone. According to the policeman, she had no right to film the event without his permission," the outlet reports.

Let us remind you that on November 17, the editorial board of the "Chernovik" stated that the authorities were preventing the issue of the printed version. Journalists linked it with the position of the head of Dagestan, Sergey Melikov. On November 28, the outlet temporarily refused to release the printed version of the weekly.

Abdulmumin Gadjiev, as well as Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" Charitable Fund, and Kemal Tambiev, an activist, have been kept in custody since June 2019 on charges of financing terrorism.
