Human rights defenders lose contact with close relatives of Tumso and Mokhamad Abdurakhmanov

The law enforcement agencies of Germany do not comment on the whereabouts of Mokhamad, a brother of Tumso Abdurakhmanov, Deutsche Welle* reports. There is also no contact with the Abdurakhmanov brothers’ closest relatives, the ‘Vayfond” human rights association reports.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on December 1, the information appeared on the Internet about the murder of Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov in Sweden. On December 5, associates of Tumso Abdurakhmanov reported his murder. Shamil Albakov, a member of the Assembly of Chechens of Europe, hopes that the disappearance of Tumso Abdurakhmanov can be explained by an operation by the Swedish special services.

Employees of the Swedish-based Chechen human rights association “Vayfond” noted that not only Tumso and Mokhamad Abdurakhmanov, but also their immediate family members do not answer phone calls, Deutsche Welle* reports.

In Germany, the police have not yet responded to a request for the whereabouts of Mokhamad Abdurakhmanov, who is under protection.

The information about the assassination attempt on Tumso Abdurakhmanov looks true, but the murder could not taken place, says Djhambulat Suleimanov, the chair of the “Unified Force”, a political movement of the Chechen Diaspora.

Migrants opposed to the Chechen authorities are in danger, Djhambulat Suleimanov emphasizes. “The day before, I was informed that a group of killers was operating in Europe, the targets of whom were Chechen activists and politicians. The list of alleged victims includes the Yangulbaev brothers, Anzor Maskhadov, myself, and several other people,” said Djhambulat Suleimanov as quoted by the “Kavkaz.Realii”*.
