Silence of Chechen blogger Tumso’s relatives raises doubts about his death

Information about the murder of Chechen blogger Tumso Abdurakhmanov was not confirmed by either relatives or the authorities of Sweden, note journalist Mairbek Vachagaev, lawyer Abubakar Yangulbaev, and Ingush journalist Isabella Evloeva. The Swedish police and the lawyer of Tumso Abdurakhmanov declined to comment on his death.

New reports about Tumso Abdurakhmanov’s death have not been confirmed by reliable sources, the Assembly of Chechens of Europe and the Chechen human rights association “Vayfond: point out. According to them, the police could hide the blogger for his safety.

On December 1, reports appeared on the Internet about the murder of Tumso Abdurakhmanov in Sweden, and then associates of Tumso Abdurakhmanov also announced his murder. The information was also confirmed by Anzor Maskhadov, a son of Aslan Maskhadov, the president of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria.

Mairbek Vachagaev, a European-based historian and journalist, expressed his distrust of the reports about the Tumso Abdurakhmanov’s death.

“Usually, the death of a Chechen is reported by his father, brother, sister, mother, one of the relatives. And here everyone reports about the death of Tumso Abdurakhmanov, except for his relatives,” Mairbek Vachagaev noted in his Telegram channel.

The Swedish police have not confirmed reports about Tumso Abdurakhmanov’s murder, the “Kavkaz.Realii”* reports.
