Presidential elections in Nagorno-Karabakh are over

According to Sergey Nasibyan, Chairman of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), out of 92,117 voters in the lists, 70,235 persons, or 76.25 percent, have cast their ballot papers. The highest voter turnout was fixed in the Shaumyan District - 94.35 percent, the lowest one - in the city of Stepanakert - 64.62 percent.

Sergey Nasibyan has stated that as of 9:00 p.m. 19 complaints arrived from Masis Mailyan's headquarters and one complaint - from Bako Saakyan's headquarters. According to the CEC Chairman, at least half of the complaints lodged by M. Mailyan "were contrary to reality."

The international observers have already presented their copious analysis of the course of elections, with their positive estimates and certain recommendations.

Meanwhile, Georgiy Sarkisyan, Masis Mailyan's election agent in Shusha, has reported that unknown persons had called him up and threatened to dismiss him from office, if he did not stop supporting M. Mailyan.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed earlier that five candidates ran for the post of President of Nagorno-Karabakh: Armen Abgaryan, deputy of the National Assembly and former deputy army commander for logistics; Vanya Avanesyan, teacher of the Artsakh State University; Masis Mailyan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs; Grant Melkumyan, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party; and Bako Saakyan, ex-Director of the Service of National Security of Nagorno-Karabakh.
