Kadyrov confirms deaths of 23 Chechen fighters in Ukraine

Since the start of the week, a total of 23 Chechen fighters have perished "overnight" in the Kherson Region; and 58 others have been wounded, Ramzan Kadyrov has stated. During the preceding eight months, Chechen authorities officially acknowledged the deaths in Ukraine of only 29 residents of the republic.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that by October 27, officials had confirmed the deaths in Ukraine of at least 850 residents of Southern Russia, including 536 casualties from the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) and 314 persons from the Southern Federal District (SFD). The leader among the regions of Southern Russia in terms of the death toll is Dagestan, where authorities have confirmed the deaths of 240 fighters from the republic.

Kadyrov has acknowledged the large one-time losses of a Chechen unit during shelling in the Kherson Region.

"All the rescue works in place are over, and there is the final list of casualties and those wounded. 23 fighters have perished and 58 others were wounded, four of them received heavy traumas," Kadyrov wrote in his Telegram channel.

He has reiterated that in Ukraine "Chechens are taking part in jihad." "We all dream of dying in the path of Allah," Kadyrov has stated, adding that Chechen fighters "on the same day" inflicted even greater losses on the enemy than they suffered themselves. At the same time, Kadyrov has again shamed his fellow countrymen who are not striving to take part in hostilities.

He has also demanded immediate personnel changes in the Russian Army, criticizing the actions of one of the generals during the military operation in Ukraine.
