Statement on continued mobilization alarms residents of Rostov Region

Residents of the town of Krasny Sulin have expressed their fears in connection with the mobilization continuation. Some of the relatives who are entitled to receive summonses have left the city and the country, said local residents. The reservists who stay in the town have treated the news as disturbing, but stated that they had no plans to leave home.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on October 3, the press service of Vasily Golubev, the Governor of the Rostov Region, announced that the region had coped with its partial mobilization plan, but specified that "upon receiving an additional task, the work will be continued." On October 11, Golubev announced that the Rostov Region had received a new mobilization plan and had begun implementing it. However, Dmitry Peskov, the Russian presidential spokesman, has assured that there is no new wave of mobilization in Russia.

Krasny Sulin townspeople said about their fears because of continued mobilization.

According to Elena, she has two sons. "To my fear, they may be mobilized," she said, adding that she did not believe Golubev's statement about the fulfilment of the mobilization plan.

Olga, a resident of Krasny Sulin, said that her son and husband could be mobilized. "The son decided not to risk it and went with his family abroad; he is not in Russia now," she said, noting that the Governor's words about the fulfilment of the mobilization plan "did not inspire confidence at all."

Bogdan Ignatov has pointed out that after the Governor's words he felt some relief. "I'm under mobilization, I'm 25; and they can call me up," he said, adding that upon receipt of the summons, he would go to the commissariat (military registration and enlistment office). "I have nowhere to go, and there are no funds for this. If they call me up, I'll go there," he said.
