Two men killed in shootout with law enforcers in KBR

In the Prokhladnensky district of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR), two suspects of committing especially grave crimes were killed, the police have reported.

The two suspects were found while searching the forest. They opened fire on law enforcers and were shot dead during the shootout, while none of law enforcers suffered, the Chief Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD) has reported.

A firearm and an object similar to an improvised explosive device (IED) were found at the incident venue, says the department's Telegram channel.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also wrote reported that at night on July 3, 2021, law enforcers were conducting a counterterrorist operation (CTO) in Nalchik and Baksan, as a result of which five alleged militants were declared killed. Nadezhda Kevorkova, a journalist, said that one of those killed was Khasanbi Khupsirgenov, convicted within the case of the attack on Nalchik in 2005. According to her story, all the five – Khasanbi Khupsirgenov, Anzor Barazov, Arsen Mendokhov, Mamaz Chikhradze and Khasan Shogenov – had been kidnapped; and the CTO was staged.
