Kadyrov's threats add to Akhmed Zakaev's political weight

Ramzan Kadyrov's call to kill Akhmed Zakaev was caused by the latter's activeness in Ukraine, but it is the constant attention of the head of Chechnya that adds to Zakaev's popularity, Alexei Malashenko and Sergey Zhavoronkov have pointed out. Kadyrov calls for violent actions, but there is no chance that he will be held accountable for this under the law, Evgeny Chernousov has noted.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 21, Kadyrov claimed his readiness to "reach" Akhmed Zakaev, who lives in Great Britain, at any cost, offering his fellow countrymen abroad to kill the leader of the self-proclaimed Ichkeria in exchange for pardoning and return to Chechnya.

The Kadyrov's threats have to do with Zakaev's activeness as aninspirer of the Chechen combatants who are fighting on the side of Ukraine, Alexei Malashenko, the author of the book "Ramzan Kadyrov: Russian Politician of Caucasian Nationality", is sure. In his opinion, such calls may find response in the Chechen Diaspora, and not only Zakaev may suffer.

In his turn, Sergey Zhavoronkov, a political analyst, believes that Zakaev has practically no influence.

On September 21, after the announcement of partial mobilization, Zakaev urged on the YouTube his compatriots, who are forced by Chechen authorities to go to Ukraine, to do everything possible not to go there.

In his video clip, Kadyrov called to kill Zakaev and accused him of cowardice.
