During his solo picket, Gadjiev’s colleague tells passers-by about political prisoners

During his solo picket in Makhachkala, journalist Idris Yusupov told passers-by about political prisoners on the example of the case against his colleague Abdulmumin Gadjiev, accused of financing terrorism.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that colleagues of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a journalist of the weekly newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft), consider the criminal case against him to be political persecution. They regularly hold protest actions in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev.

In his comment to the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent, Magomed Magomedov, one of the initiators of the solo pickets, the deputy editor-in-chief of the “Chernovik”, has told that today, in Makhachkala, three solo pickets have been held at the intersection of Dakhadaev Street and Gamzatov Avenue, near the complex of buildings belonging to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and the FSB Department for Dagestan. According to Magomed Magomedov, the first solo picket with the demand “Freedom for Journalism” has been held by Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the ”Chernovik”. Magomed Magomedov himself has held the second solo picket with the demand “Freedom for Abdulmumin Gadjiev” and the request to stop his criminal prosecution. The third solo picket with the demand “Freedom for Political Prisoners” has been held by Dagestani journalist Idris Yusupov.

Idris Yusupov emphasizes that residents of Makhachkala and guests of Dagestan were interested in the protest action. For example, two young men asked Idris Yusupov during his solo picket who the political prisoners were. The picketer gave them the example of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, about whose case the young people had never heard.
