Memory actions are held in Beslan on anniversary of school capture

Since morning, people are gathering in the yard of School No. 1 in Beslan; they bring flowers, wreaths and toys to the tragedy venue. A mourning service was held in the school gym.

On September 1, 2004, militants captured 1128 hostages in the gym of School No. 1 in Beslan. The operation to free them ended on September 3, 2004. As a result of the terror act, 334 people perished, including 186 children; other 810 people received various wounds.

Today, Beslan has launched a three-day memorial watch on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of the terror act. "From early morning, people are coming to school with flowers, candles and toys. At 9:15 a.m., traditionally, the school bell rang," the "Wings TV" Telegram channel has informed.

Thousands of people have come to commemorate those who perished in the terror act. Next to photos of the dead, people light candles. Funeral music has been playing in the school yard since early morning. Bishop Gerasim has held a mourning prayer service in the school gym, according to the posts on the "Osnova" Telegram channel that is broadcasting the events. The posts are accompanied by videos, showing many people lining up and laying flowers at the monument. Also, people are seen at stands with photos.
